Consumers should review actual samples of hardwoods with their distributor or retailer and cabinet displays to help them establish realistic expectations of variations involving wood grain, color tones, presence of knots and so forth.

These variations are at the heart of the unique natural beauty of finished hardwood. In addition, exposure of wood products to sunlight, some chemical agents and smoke can cause wood colors to change over time.
